Notes from the workshop — old engines, patient hands, and the smell of grease.
The stubborn carburetor
April 2026
Spent most of Saturday with a carburetor that refused to idle. Pulled it apart three times before I noticed the float was hanging half a millimeter too low. Small things. Always small things. The engine started on the first pull after that, and I sat on the stool just listening to it for a while.
On patience with old steel
March 2026
You cannot rush a seized bolt. Heat, penetrating oil, time, and a gentle hand on the wrench. Force breaks things. Patience frees them. This is true of more than bolts.
Workshop inventory, winter edition
February 2026
